Construction
These fine bubble membrane diffuses are very flexible, durable and consistent.
An upwardly convex dish is covered by an elastic rubber diaphragm which
encapsulates the depression rim of the dish and perforated "I" slits. In
addition, the rubber diaphragm is circumferentially secured by a clamp ring.
Membrane
The rubber diaphragm is made from high grade EPDM that includes an ultraviolet
inhibitor. This material is resistant to aggressive chemical attack, weathering
and aging. This diaphragm provides 100 percent rebound memory.
Support Dish
The upward dish is made of glass-filled reinforced PA. This provides operating
without the requirement for acid dosing. Due to the disc's upward convex shape,
the diaphragm is only slightly stretched and lifted off the disc when air is
supplied. The convex dish permits the diaphragm to lay down flat, even when its
elasticity is reduced by time. All materials of the Ecoflex disc membrane
diffuser exist in long-term operations with temperatures of up to 100°C and are
suitable for aeration in deep basins.
Special Features
Uniform Fine Bubble
Formation of fine bubbles, leading to extremely high oxygen transfer
efficiency. The distance between the membrane "I" slits has been set to prevent
the individual bubbles from coalescing into larger bubbles.
High Oxygen Transfer Efficiency
When airflow is applied, the membrane's slits consistently
produce 1-3mm fine bubbles that increase the bubble surface contact area with
wastewater. This greatly increases the oxygen transfer efficiency resulting in
lower airflow requirements and up to 50% energy reduction. This substantially
reduces the number of diffusers required, thereby proving more economical.
Back Flow Prevention
When the air supply is shut off, the membrane retracts, seals the slits and
pressed on the dish, sealing its air supply bore. Due to this double sealing
mechanism, no sewage and water can enter the diffusers and the air piping
system. Thus, it is possible to interrupt the airflow to the diffusers.
Resistant to Fouling
When the air expands the flexible membrane, any settled solids, slime or
carbonate buildup are dispersed. This significantly reduces the possibility of
clogging, plugging and fouling that is critical in maintaining high oxygen
transfer efficiency over the life and is ideal for interrupted operation, SBR
system and automatic dissolved oxygen control applications.
Wide Load Variations
The high variability of the airflow in the range of 1-3CFM for Ecoflex-235 and
1-6 CFM for Ecoflex -316
allows for wide load variations and for aeration in activated sludge plants
with short or long sludge age.
Retrofits
When replacing the coarse bubble diffusers or the mechanical diffusers they may reduce
aeration power costs by up to 65% depending upon applications. With Ecologix
special designed saddle kit, most existing aeration systems can be easily
retrofitted.
